Platform feeders appeal to so many backyard birds. Many sparrows will fill a platform feeders and dine together. White-crowned, Field, Song, Chipping, and more all hop aboard. They are often accompanied by towhees or juncos. We've had spectacular male Painted Buntings visit these ground feeders when they have millet in them. Cardinals prefer platform feeders because they are most comfortable with an open field of vision. House finches, tufted titmice, doves and many more birds are regular visitors.
