The feeder lid has a raised vine and floral design which incorporates the feeding ports and keeps rain from pouring down the feeder's slope to dilute your sugar water solution. In the center of the saucer at the base of the brass hanger is an ant moat which you fill with water. This keeps crawling bugs out of the feeding stations. The clear bowl allows you to monitor the sugar water level. The red or fuchsia lid comes off for filling and easy cleaning.
Aggressive hummingbirds can sometimes be an issue when you have only one feeder. It can be a good idea to hide a second feeder around a building or where a tree blocks the view. This way the less aggressive hummingbirds have more time at the feeders.
